 is in the font /usr/share/fonts/TTF/fa-brands-400.ttf: Font Awesome 5 Brands:style=Regular but not
/usr/share/fonts/TTF/fa-regular-400.ttf: Font Awesome 5 Free:style=Regular or
/usr/share/fonts/TTF/fa-solid-900.ttf: Font Awesome 5 Free:style=Solid
Is your font configuration matching Font Awesome 5 Brands as the fallback if one of the others is used as the primary font?
Also the codepoint F42E is in the private use area E000–F8FF so each font can assign it for a different use.
