Wait, maybe I misunderstood. Does xmobar no long use wireless_tools directly or not?
Comment by Levente Polyak (anthraxx) - Monday, 12 March 2018, 16:37 GMT
xmobar still itself checks for existence of libiw C library and not just blindly links against haskell-iwlib no matter how it works or what that links against... so i don't see the urge or reason to remove it if transitively provided or not. what does it fix/solve/improve?

If it doesn't actually use it directly at runtime, though, the ticket is valid.

readelf -d /bin/xmobar|grep libiw
0x0000000000000001 (NEEDED) Shared library: [libiw.so.30]

it links to libiw _directly_ at first level dependency marked as NEEDED for linking by xmobar itself
