Description:
libplacebo[1] is a library that VLC 3.0 uses to map expanded gamuts in e.g. 10 bit video files to screens with more typical gamuts. Without libplacebo built in, the colors in these files appear washed out, since the file is interpreted as if it had a narrower gamut than it does. Additional info: libplacebo is included in the Videolan binaries on e.g. Windows, and other distros like Debian build it in[2], so we should too. Already took a rought look when you mentioned it in another
ticket. Thanks for creating a separate issue, I plan doing so but
wanted to get VLC 3.0 properly shipped first. Gonna tackle this as
next.
