The fix (2.16-2) appears to have removed `/usr/bin/units_cur`. (I can submit a new bug report if amending this one is inappropriate.)

The units Makefile only installs units_cur if "$(HAVE_PYTHON) == yes" (i.e. the python package is installed). The last change to the PKGBUILD file removed python from "depends=", so that explains why it's not in the package any more.

The main units program doesn't require Python at all, so it seems like units_cur should be a sub-package with it's own separate (non-optional) dependencies, if anything.

Or rather python should just be in the makedepends.

Odd, I should have noticed that in the checkpkg results.
