Description:
The current freetype library for Arch (x86_64 at least) fails to handle correctly some proprietary Type 1 fonts (from well known vendors). This can be circumvented by defining T1_CONFIG_OPTION_OLD_ENGINE in ftoption.h when building the library. Additional info: * package version: freetype2-2.9-1-x86_64 Steps to reproduce: 1. Use pdflatex to produce a minimal PDF file that uses either Adobe Caslon or Monotype Bulmer fonts. 2. View the PDF in xpdf or evince. 3. See very nasty results! Example at http://users.wfu.edu/cottrell/t1problem/ Also see the thread beginning at http://tug.org/pipermail/pdftex/2018-January/009123.html for more discussion |
