Currently (mu-0.9.18-1), mu does not add mu4e to Emacs's load path, instead suggesting to the user to add some code to their init file. However, many users share init files across different computers which may or may not be arch-based. It would be nice to have mu add mu4e to Emacs's load-path when installed so that this code in init.el isn't needed.

an easy way to do that would be to split mu and mu4e into separate packages, make mu4e an optional dependency that depends on Emacs, then package mu4e like the other "emacs-mode" packages in [community]

Emacs automatically adds the subfolders of /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp to the load-path.
You can verify this with `emacs -q` and then inspect the `load-path` variable.

Thus the message displayed when installing mu is wrong. That being said, do you have any problem loading mu4e?

No, I realized shortly after posting this that the message mu displays isn't needed. Perhaps just remove that? Thanks!
