Description:
All Linux distributions provide a /usr/share/applications/mimeapps.list with shared-mime-info package.

This allow GNOME for example to open usb disk with nautilus instead of a random software. Here, It opens my usb disk with kid3-qt.

As ArchLinux is desktop agnostic, maybe subpackages like shared-mime-info-kde, shared-mime-info-gnome with some good defaults.

It's something that come again and again on the forum.

We have already attempted to discuss this with gnome upstream, where the issue belongs. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=747706

Gnome should provide a desktop-specific mimeapps.list with inode/directory default overrides.
