Hello

cinnamon 3.6.7-1
kernel 4.9.71-1 lts

cinnamon plants right from the start
after loading lightdm
ditto for reboots
Upon arrival on the desk, Cinnamon automatically crashes.
no trace of crashes in the logs ...

unsuccessfully tried solution, changing themes, icons, mouse cursor, with and without wallpaper, put back the default Cinnamon theme, same for Lightdm, removal of all applets, creation of a new panel, removal of software that start automatically at boot, test with the kernel 4.14, deletion of all cinnamon configuration files in my / home, creating a new user, startup by deactivating lightdm, but the problem persists .. and I'm running out of ideas. ....

workaround, meanwhile, downgrade Cinnamon packages to version 3.4, Nemo 3.4 and cjs to 3.2.

this problem is known?
or am I the only one to suffer it?
since the move to Cinnamon 3.6 I have a lot of instability, I always come back to version 3.4, which works perfectly.
version 3.4 of cjs also triggers random crash, known problem and reported on the github Cinnamon, but we have not heard: /

possible that the problem is related to the kernel lts?

Cinnamon works perfectly for me, although I do use startx/sx directly rather than a display manager like lightdm.

Unfortunately, without any information about what is happening, it is difficult to fix something that works for me...

Can you try running cinnamon via startx as described here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xinit in order to factor out lightdm as a cause? Do other desktop environments demonstrate the same problem?

EDIT: reference to your upstream issue might be nice. ;)

indeed it's amazing that at home, you have no worries.
maybe a hardware problem at home, nvidia driver for example who comes into conflict or other ....

by disabling lightdm to start only with startx, the problem does not reoccur.
and with lightdm enabled I have not had any crashes yet, after 10 reboot successidfs, and 3 shutdowns.
but to confirm over time.

maybe the lightdm 1.24.0-3 update dated December 23 has fixed a bug since my last tests ??

we leave open the bugtracker, in case the crash comes back ??
and if I have crashes again, I would go on the github reported bug already present.

Sounds like a lightdm bug all right. But if it works after you do a full system update to the latest lightdm, then there's not much use in keeping this bug open. If it comes back, you can always request the bug to be reopened.
