Description:

after the upgrade to sddm 0.17.0-3 the screen goes black with the message "cannot setup default cursor" in the logs
After downgrading to 0.17.0.2 the X server starts fine.

I am using the closed source nvidia driver on a i7 4700Hq (with intel integrated graphics) but I configured the machine to go with the nvidia card only.

Steps to reproduce:

install the latest version of sddm as of 2017-12-22

Please post the full log, and your /etc/sddm.conf if you have one.

Can confirm 0.17.0-3 is broken at least with nvidia. Nothing untoward that I can see in the attached log. No /etc/sddm.conf exists.

All I get is a black screen on 0.17.0-3, downgrading to 0.17.0-2 with no other changes results in functional display.

It seems sddm uses DefaultPath internally for executing scripts. empty path breaks it. To fix change DefaultPath= to DefaultPath=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin in /usr/lib/sddm/sddm.conf.d/sddm.conf
