Currently Flash 9 only supports ALSA for sound. So those who use something different (like OSS) don't get sound with flash. But I have found a "patch" for that: http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Flash_Player:Additional_Interface_Support_for_Linux It takes about 4 seconds to compile and adds OSS support to flash 9, so I think this should be included in the flashplugin-beta package in Unstable.
This task depends upon

i myself do not see any argument to have flash supporting OSS. the linux kernel has no native OSS support any more and all OSS things run under a linux 2.6.x kernel in arch is done anyway over ALSA

~|503> lsmod | grep _oss
snd_seq_oss 29440 0
snd_seq_midi_event 6528 1 snd_seq_oss
snd_seq 47184 4 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event
snd_seq_device 6924 2 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq
snd_pcm_oss 39072 0
snd_mixer_oss 14592 2 snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm 67972 5 snd_pcm_oss,snd_intel8x0m,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec
snd 42724 16 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_intel8x0m,snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm,snd_timer

but i leave it to the maintainer of flashplugin-beta to decide

It doesn't add just OSS support, it also adds international support, and https:// support. I'm going to add this, even if it does move the depends up by a few megs.

I changed my mind. After some thought, I decided to create a new package for this: libflashsupport. This depends on flashplugin-beta, icu, and openssl. This puts the deps of a 4KB package at about 9MB. ;)

Installing libflashsupport will enable internationalization, ssl support, and multiple audio outputs (oss being the only alternative to alsa right now.)
