INTRO:
In every AUR page, the title remains the same: It's always AUR (En). IMHO, it is very annoying to not to identify the pages for its URL. For example, in Konqueror, if I start entering http://aur.arch... i can see several different URLs, but as the page title remains intact, i have to go to the main page and then going step by step to my desired destination, so, wasting time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
* I suggest the webmaster to edit the code so that the page title changes according to the package name, for example, or for AUR (En)/ Search.
* For a painless experience for the eyes, URL rewriting could ease the AUR interaction. For instance, to search for a package named foo, the url aur.archlinux.org/packages/search/foo could be great!

Thank you for your patience and for making AUR possible ;)
Yours,

Enric

Hi Enric,

Can you elaborate more in the first item ? I could not get your point.

Thanks

Hi Douglas. Let's explain this with an example. You can go to the AUR package main page (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php) and its title is AUR (en). You can go to 1394commander (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?do_Details=1&ID=4002&O=0&L=&C=&K=&SB=&SO=&PP=&do_MyPackages=&do_Orphans=&SeB=) page and its title is AUR (en) again. Let's say, if you do a google search for term 'foo', the search results page will be "Foo - Gogle Search", but, if you do it with the AUR package search, its title will be AUR (en). When i say title, so, i mean the <title></title> tags in a HTML of whatever file.

For the second item, lets use the 1394commander example. Its url is the stated above. With URL rewriting, it could be http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/1394commander, or http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/transkode (for the transkode package). In my opinion, its easier to remember this url than the one above (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?do_Details=1&ID=4002&O=0&L=&C=&K=&SB=&SO=&PP=&do_MyPackages=&do_Orphans=&SeB=).

Thanks for your help, douglas.

Hi Enric,

I know it is not a solution, but you can use:

http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?K=package_name to search for a given package.

Ok, ill try that, but i was referring to non-descriptive titles and non-descriptive URLs. I think that implementing more descriptive page titles wouldn't be too hard.

Not wanting to create a new bug report, I'll post my feature request here.

Is there a way to sort by date? For instance, I'd like to know which packages were recently modified or added in the search page. Something like the "More..." link in the "Recent Updates" box on the main page.

Worst is that AUR has high pagerank. So google for "wocka" and AUR comes in before the homepage, but the title google shows is "AUR (en)" which is useless for people looking for wocka. So I hope this gets fixed.

If I could get access somehow I could fix this myself.

How about including the main sites header navigation similar to the way the forums do. It's quite annoying not to be able to go back to the homepage?
