I´d like to be able to boot from a loop device without manual activities. Proposal: - support kernel commandline loopdevice=/dev/sda1 loopfile=/path/to/my/image.img needs enhancement of mkinitcpio - support detechtion of loop devide in grub menu needs enhancement of grub, supplying a patch to grub-mkconfig If you agree this solution I might be able to submit the relevant patches. |

But as a rule of thumb you will be better off sending proposed changes to mkinitcpio on the dedicated mailing list at https://lists.archlinux.org/listinfo/arch-projects/ and grub changes to the upstream grub developers.
mkinitcpio changes can be submitted here, but they will get less visibility.
