please test with kio-extras 17.12 and report it upstream attaching all relevant logs and errors if it's still an issue.

I don'r know what is bad, but:
1. samba package is working: my shares are accessible, smbtree shows hosts in our network, I can mount windows shares to my comp.
2. But: in a Dolphin file manager click to Network -> Samba shares item opens empty window. Why do you think that this bag is in samba?

Another bug here:
If I try to mount share from host that isn't in a domain, I have message:
mount error(112): Host is down
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

But I can open this share from Dolphin file manager, if it is connecting to host by address smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Again: please test with kio-extras 17.12 and report it upstream (ie to the KDE bug tracker) attaching all relevant logs and errors if it's still an issue

Yes, bug is in bugs.kde.com.

I noticed a similar bug in most file explorers (Thunar, Gnome Files...) since samba 4.7.0 when the default "client max protocol" value was changed to SMB3_11.
Adding "client max protocol = NT1" to [global] settings in /etc/samba/smb.conf seems to "fix" it (a reboot is needed).

@Chawoosh can you confirm whether that is your issue?
Comment by Nicholas (Chawoosh) - Friday, 12 January 2018, 12:35 GMT
Yes, I'm confirmed this. With the hack from Julio linux can browse windows network, but smbmount outside of domain still don't work.

What's the status with latest samba and kio-extras?

The samba kioslave has been completely rewritten in 20.04. Is this still valid?
Comment by Nicholas (Chawoosh) - Friday, 24 April 2020, 06:44 GMT
I wrote to config option "client min protocol = NT1" and no option for max protocol - and now samba can browse windows network (if nobody takes mbrowser role :) ).
