Description:
since the upgrade of noto-fonts package (20171025-1 -> 20171025-2) I notice that the fonts are too bold in qt4 applications like vlc,

if I downgrade to noto-fonts 20171025-1 version then all is ok, fonts are much better rendered in vlc and qt4 applications ( like qtconfig-qt4 )

something is broken in this 20171025-2 version, not sure if it's an archlinux package problem or an upstream bug, maybe there is a patch for this problem,

see the attached file ( zip file ) where I put 2 screenshots of vlc, one with noto-fonts 20171025-1, and the other with noto-fonts 20171025-2,

I use plasma 5, with the oxygen theme

Additional info:
* package version(s) noto-fonts 20171025-2
* config and/or log files etc.

Steps to reproduce:
- upgrade noto-fonts to 20171025-2 version
- open VLC or qtconfig-qt4
- you will notice that the fonts are too bold

the problem could be this archlinux commit :

https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/commit/trunk?h=packages/noto-fonts&id=23059974a75b921ec7cd69755eaebbd2ca6feb9a

as this commit is the only difference between 20171025-1 and 20171025-2 package version, something may be wrong in this commit

This is a very old qt4 issue, see eg. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-font-family/+bug/744812 or https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-27301. Since Qt4 has been EOL for a while, this will never be fixed - if you don't like how it looks you will have to workaround it by removing or disabling NotoSans-Medium in fontconfig.
