In xfce4 I can't see any icon in the menu for emelfm2.
That's because its icons are installed in a subdirectory of
/usr/share/pixmaps, and that can't be used in
emelfm2.desktop. This small patch copies an icon in the
correct dir, so that it is used in the menu.

I want to point out that there's another (simpler) solution to the problem, and it's specifying the icon's full path, I tested it and it works. The reason why I don't like this solution is because it breaks consistency, I think: all app icons should have a relative path, and their icon should be in /usr/share/pixmaps. Am I wrong?
