The wireless then does connect to a 2.4 GHz router but download speed is around 5Mbps whereas a laptop also running arch a short distance away (with a different wireless 7260 card) connects at around 100Mbps.

Steps to reproduce:

Boot the computer and wait for NetworkManager to connect whilst running the plasma desktop.

I'm curious, what do you expect Arch to do about it?
Comment by Mike Cloaked (mcloaked) - Monday, 06 November 2017, 15:49 GMT
It's a bug in a package that is central to many arch users, so flagging up this as a bug here as well as knowing it is being worked on upstream is presumably worth doing so that any user searching for where the problem is being worked on, if they experience similar issues in their arch systems, might see it? Often I will search the arch bug lists before upstream. Once it is fixed upstream then this bug can be closed - or is it easier to not notify arch developers/TUs here and leave it as a pure upstream bug? Also it is just possible that someone might know of a workaround for temporarily getting their system working better, and report on the arch bug even though the real solution is to fix the upstream firmware/driver in this case?

This bug report upstream is also very similar to my issue: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197279

Edit: Not my issue. Sorry.

Perhaps it is related to this upstream bug: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=197039

This just started occurring for my Dell XPS13 9360 with an Intel 8xxx wireless chip using linux-firmware 20171123.90436ce-1. Reverting to 20171009.bf04291-1 seems to work.
Comment by Doug Newgard (Scimmia) - Sunday, 26 November 2017, 21:48 GMT
matthias.lisin, you obviously know that your post has nothing to do with this ticket since the firmware that's causing you a problem wasn't present. Don't threadjack.

rawlinsong, same thing.

I cannot reproduce the issue. Is it still valid?
