Summary and Info:
I'm using "Pacman v5.0.2 - libalpm v10.0.2". I'm trying to redirect the text output when execuitng a debug run of pacman. But only the following text is redirectable (stdout)
downloading core.db...
core is up to date
downloading extra.db...
extra is up to date
downloading community.db...
community is up to date
downloading multilib.db...
multilib is up to date
archlinuxfr is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
there is nothing to do


Steps to Reproduce:
sudo pacman --debug -Syu >pacm_debug.txt

The rest of the output goes to stderr. You can redirect that, too.

Try this instead:

sudo pacman --debug -Syu > pacm_debug.txt 2>&1

This redirects file descriptor #2 (stderr) into FD#1 (stdout).
