I would like to advocate wpa_supplicant being moved to a dependency of connman. One of the primary functions of connman is to provide wireless management, which requires wpa_supplicant. Connman is extremely crippled without wpa_supplicant, so leaving it as an opt-depends seems incorrect.

I'd argue that the pkgdesc is the thing that needs to be fixed. Its "primary function" is managing internet connections, and the project homepage does not call out wifi in particular. In fact, I cannot see where that description came from at all -- it is "Intel's modular network connection manager", not "a network manager specifically designed for use with wireless lan, which we will begrudgingly admit can be used in other circumstances as well".

NetworkManager does have a hard depends on wpa_supplicant, but I assume without testing, that that is solely because it is a runtime dependency whether you use wireless or not. (If I am wrong, that would be grounds for filing a bug against NetworkManager.)

I agree with Eli. The pkgdesc is indeed a little bit bogus. I will change that description in the next release.
