Details

Description: Using python-blessed (import blessed in a python script) generates a runtime error that wcwidth cannot be imported if python-wcwidth is not already installed

Additional info:
* python-blessed Version 1.14.2-1

Steps to reproduce:
Try to 'include blessed' in any python script without python-wcwidth installed will result in a runtime error.

(I know that this doesn't belong in this report, but python2-blessed probably needs python2-wcwidth added to deps as well. I have not tested this, however.)

  • Field changed: Summary ([python-blessed] This package depends upon python-wcwidth → [python-blessed] [python2-blessed] This package depends upon python{,2}-wcwidth)
  • Field changed: Status (Unconfirmed → Assigned)
  • Task assigned to Maxime Gauduin (Alucryd)
alucryd, it's listed in requirements.txt even...

fauxmight, given that python2-blessed is a split package built from the same source code archive that supports both python2 and python3, I think it is safe to assume this applies to both. :D

@eschwartz: I'm going to pretend I didn't see those '...', this was a copy paste from python-arrow and I forgot to update the depends fields.

@fauxmight: Thanks for reporting this.
