DetailsDescription:
Since upgrading to the linux-4.12.4-1 kernel package running my windows 10 guest (which I've been using for several months) will hang after running for a while. This has been happening consistently since the upgrade with the same stack trace and Oops in the kernel log. Additional info: * linux-4.12.4-1 * trace from dmesg is below: [34920.131885] BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ffffffffc1180f96 [34920.134146] IP: report_bug+0x94/0x120 [34920.136435] PGD eb1a0c067 [34920.136436] P4D eb1a0c067 [34920.138728] PUD eb1a0e067 [34920.141001] PMD 185d069067 [34920.143269] PTE 800000185bb91161 [34920.149727] Oops: 0003 [#1] PREEMPT SMP [34920.151760] Modules linked in: tun bridge stp llc rpcsec_gss_krb5 auth_rpcgss oid_registry nfsv4 dns_resolver nfs lockd grace sunrpc fscache uvcvideo videobuf2_vmalloc videobuf2_memops videobuf2_v4l2 videobuf2_core videodev mousedev joydev media chaoskey rng_core btusb btrtl btbcm btintel bluetooth snd_usb_audio hid_generic ecdh_generic crc16 usbhid snd_usbmidi_lib hid snd_rawmidi usblp snd_seq_device cfg80211 nct6775 hwmon_vid snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_codec_generic snd_hda_codec_hdmi nls_iso8859_1 nls_cp437 intel_rapl vfat fat x86_pkg_temp_thermal intel_powerclamp coretemp kvm_intel kvm crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul snd_hda_intel ghash_clmulni_intel pcbc snd_hda_codec snd_hda_core snd_hwdep igb eeepc_wmi aesni_intel snd_pcm e1000e asus_wmi aes_x86_64 crypto_simd snd_timer iTCO_wdt glue_helper [34920.154048] sparse_keymap cryptd dca iTCO_vendor_support rfkill snd mei_me input_leds ptp intel_cstate led_class video mxm_wmi evdev intel_rapl_perf pcspkr i2c_i801 lpc_ich soundcore mei pps_core shpchp mac_hid wmi tpm_tis tpm_tis_core tpm button sch_fq_codel ip_tables x_tables xfs libcrc32c crc32c_generic sd_mod serio_raw atkbd libps2 crc32c_intel ahci libahci xhci_pci ehci_pci xhci_hcd libata ehci_hcd usbcore scsi_mod usb_common nvme nvme_core i8042 serio amdgpu i2c_algo_bit drm_kms_helper syscopyarea sysfillrect sysimgblt fb_sys_fops ttm drm vfio_pci irqbypass vfio_virqfd vfio_iommu_type1 vfio [34920.156419] CPU: 0 PID: 6503 Comm: CPU 0/KVM Not tainted 4.12.4-1-ARCH #1 [34920.158766] Hardware name: ASUS All Series/RAMPAGE V EDITION 10, BIOS 1502 12/16/2016 [34920.161123] task: ffff99015fdcaac0 task.stack: ffffa9226e6ac000 [34920.163479] RIP: 0010:report_bug+0x94/0x120 [34920.165822] RSP: 0018:ffffa9226e6af750 EFLAGS: 00010202 [34920.168157] RAX: 0000000000000907 RBX: ffffa9226e6af8b8 RCX: ffffffffc1180f8c [34920.170477] RDX: 0000000000000001 RSI: 0000000000001359 RDI: 0000000000000001 [34920.172799] RBP: ffffa9226e6af770 R08: ffffa9226e6b0000 R09: 000000000000038c [34920.175124] R10: ffffffff97a06a80 R11: fffff80383a01000 R12: ffffffffc11603f3 [34920.177448] R13: ffffffffc1180238 R14: 0000000000000004 R15: ffffa9226e6af8b8 [34920.179773] FS: 00007f0c08fb9700(0000) GS:ffff990b1f200000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 [34920.182102] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 [34920.184427] CR2: ffffffffc1180f96 CR3: 00000016f213e000 CR4: 00000000003426f0 [34920.186756] Call Trace: [34920.189079] ? Just for some more information, I did some more testing on a similarly configured guest running archlinux instead of windows 10 and after running it for several hours (longer than it takes to crash on windows) there were no issues.
