In the latest update for kernel26, the initrd image name was changed to kernel26.img. This is cool, but it also happens to break your system if you don't change it. Can the update print a message telling you what to do or something?

while installing you should have seen a message
Comment by Jesse (pianohacker) - Monday, 02 October 2006, 17:26 GMT
Maybe so, but it was kinda lost in the output from mkinitcpio... Is there any way to make it more visible?

you have seen this message now since 3 months during kernel updates, got 5 hints on news and ML about this stuff, hm what do you need more ;) ?
Comment by Jesse (pianohacker) - Monday, 02 October 2006, 17:56 GMT
Well, I'm not subscribed to the ml's (having just installed Arch a week ago), and what does the first part of your sentence mean? (No insult, just a little confused).
I know it's not the Arch Way to automatically update things like menu.lst (and I'm glad, I don't want it to), but a message that, if ignored, results in failure to boot is kind of important.
(I'm kind of an Arch noob, please forgive any _obvious_ idiocy.

sorry wasn't meant to be rude, we informed the ppl sicne quite a long time about this step and the warning is shown during update, probably it just scrolled through your terminal without even noticing it.
you have fixed it now and welcome to arch :)
