I am sorry if this is an inappropriate post or if its in the wrong thread, as its the first time im posting....
Guys i installed steam but everytime it ends up giving this message "Steam needs to be online ...."
iptables running on my system both ipv4 and 6 .... but i checked after disabling it.

I see ubuntu12 in your traces, ubunto 12 is EoL these days.

@Rahul, if you don't have too many games installed, you could try removing ~/.local/share/Steam and ~/.steam/steam, then installing the steam package. Take backup of the files before removing them, if needed. It might also be worth trying steam-runtime from [multilib].

Ok Sir, ... things got fixed and i don't know how it happened but that was weird...!!
Whenever i launch steam it was showing that error time and again though my net connection was up and running (confirmed)... Today early in the morning i tethered my laptop with my phone and launched steam, guess what.... surprisingly it worked!!

was it something related to DHCP issue ?
