DetailsThe thunderbird 52.2.1-1 package in [extra] crashes when trying to connect to IRC in the Chat tab. Originally discovered in my own thunderbird-gtk2 package.
Seems to be caused by gcc 7 somehow, as rebuilding thunderbird-gtk2 using the gcc6 package in the AUR produced a working Thunderbird build. I haven't tried rebuilding with the [extra]/thunderbird PKGBUILD due to lack of personal interest, but I assume that would work too... I'm assuming this isn't the fault of Arch Linux packaging if changing the version of gcc used fixes things :) so I have filed an upstream bug here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1376908 |

This looks related to GCC 7 and optimization, a debug build with GCC 7 works fine.
