New profiles created with firefox -P lack most mimetypes that are shown in Preferences->Applications, e.g. magnet link. Existing profiles are not affected.
A workaround is to copy mimeTypes.rdf from an existing profile. This is on Plasma/KDE

It still happens but there is a note about KDE mime types and Firefox in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Firefox#KDE/GNOME_integration
