Considering how old 3.0 is, would you mind taking a look at ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/beta/zip31d.zip ? It was released in 2015 as opposed to 3.0 from 2008.
I'm using this PKGBUILD https://paste.gnome.org/pixg3bsrq

Reason for closing:  Upstream

Is there a reason?

Apart from better unicode file name support, I'm not aware of any security bugs in 3.0 so there is no particular reason.
I was thinking that as development seems more or less dormant, it may be worth testing a more recent build. But it is completely up to you especially since I have not tested the 3.1beta build extensively.

I'm a little reluctant to switch to a beta release if there's no clear benefit. However what I suggest you do is convince upstream that it's time to move their beta out of beta... :)

It would help every distro out there switch to the most recent code.

That is a very good suggestion. Thank you. I'll try to contact them and see if they have timeline.
