Description:

It would be nice that we can just open an ipynb file by double-click on it. I already done this on ubuntu (see this post: https://askubuntu.com/questions/848350/how-to-handle-jupyter-notebook-files-in-ubuntu)

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a ipynb.xml mime-info file and add it to the mime database
2. Create a jupyter.desktop file
3. Add the jupyter icon

benjaminabel, has this been suggested upstream? Since your suggestion uses standard freedesktop stuff, there's no reason for every distribution to make their own mimeinfo and .desktop files when it could benefit users of any freedesktop-compliant system.
