DetailsUsing the nouveau driver for Nvidia cards causes a kernel panic. The proprietary Nvidia driver with the same hardware doesn't get the kernel panics.
It happens with both the regular kernel (4.11.3-1) and the LTS kernel (4.9.30-1). According to user ingo66 on the forums[0], downgrading to 4.11.2-1 stops the kernel panics. I am using an Nvidia GT 630 [NV108]. Upstream bug report: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101273 Additional info: linux 4.11.3-1 picture of the kernel panic messages attached [0] https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=226854 Steps to reproduce: - boot into Arch Linux - kernel panic happens either during the boot, or right as I'm about to log into a TTY (on a fresh install) |

I tested it and it fixes the issue. Other people confirmed it too. I guess we just have to wait for it to be applied upstream.
