I expected this issue to be already reported. Apparently, it wasn't. So here it is.

Working: alsa-lib 1.1.3
Broken: alsa-lib 1.1.4

Using alsa with dmix fails with the error:

ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1077:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to create IPC shm instance

Upstream discussion: http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-devel/2017-May/121055.html

Note that I'm seeing the same error although I'm not using 32b/64b clients(I think). But my configuration is rather complex.

@brebs

Yes. And it obviously fixes the bug.

I just wanted to make Arch packagers aware of the issue.

A PKGBUILD with the fix attached if anyone is interested.

Thank you Mohammad for reporting this issue. I just pushed alsa-lib-1.1.4-2 with the upstream patch you pointed to [testing]. Please update alsa-lib and let us know if there are any remaining issues.
