I've got a dell xps 15 (9560) that requires manually setting the kernel param to work around some issues (see https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=223056). Seems like adding it to the stock kernels is non-obtrusive to users and simply opens the doors for those that need it. Thanks for consideration!
