Description:
logwatch git now has support for journal from almost a year. Links related to commits 1) https://sourceforge.net/p/logwatch/git/ci/ed6eb62f40cb97f71f3df4d982682de68cdf1037/log/?path= 2) https://sourceforge.net/p/logwatch/patches/34/ 3) https://src.fedoraproject.org/cgit/rpms/logwatch.git/commit/?id=bf7f580f8f7ef791153be84b9e00fc5c6a9f3a0c First link shows two commits related to journal Second link shows confirmation by logwatch upstream maintainer. Third link is Fedora commit - just incase we can simply duplicate their work. Commits are almost a year old but no release of logwatch has been made since more than a year. Hence I am creating this feature request to implement those commits instead of waiting for next release of logwatch. (via patches?) Thank you |
This task depends upon
Logwatch is excellent program for automatic monitoring activities for system administrators.
And report gets delivered every day via email.
Since most of services / daemons have switched to journal - logwatch more or less becomes ineffective.
Considering that journal support is in git from a year (and Fedora also uses it from about six months now), may be Arch can add journal support too.
Your best option is really to complain to upstream about the lack of a release.
