Details
Whenever elevated privileges are needed and mate-polkit is
run (you can test it for example by changing the priority of
a process on mate-system-monitor) then an icon of
mate-polkit appears on system tray, which shows nothing and
if you right or left click it, then it just disappears. This
is ugly and confusing for inexperienced users.
If you add --enable-appindicator option at configure, it works properly and when you left click it, then it allows you to drop the elevated privileges. I believe that you will also need to add libappindicator-gtk3 as dependency. |

Ok no need for that. I reported it upstream
(https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-polkit/issues/33) and the
devs released mate-polkit 1.18.1 which fixes the icon on system
tray without --enable-appindicator option. So, I request closure
on this bug and I will flag the package out of date.
