Details

I can print with cups to a HP JetDirect using "socket".

However I cannot print over lpd, which resolves in errors.
Cups admin page stops printer and says: LexmarkOptra (Default Printer) "/usr/lib/cups/backend/lpd failed"


this is the part from the error_log where it goes wrong (included the whole error_log as an attachment):

meh... stupid guide i used at school had a case-mismatch in the printer que
had nowhere else i could test this though :(
