DetailsDescription:
Linux and ldloader etc. allow the presence of multiple dynamic libraries with different major numbers. Some applications use specific versions of the libraries: texlive-bin 2016.41290-10 $ ldd /usr/sbin/luatex | grep poppler libpoppler.so.66 => /usr/lib/libpoppler.so.66 However, recent version of poppler 0.54.0-1 contains libpoppler.so.67, which breaks luatex. My solution: 1) extract the library files from poppler 0.52.0-1 2) copy the files into /usr/lib 3) run ldconfig. An extremely sub-optimal mechanism liable to breakage. What should be done: Separate packages for libpoppler.so.66 and libpoppler.so.67 - both exists simultaneously and not replace each other. |
