Details

Description: kodi failing to display subtitles using libass since Arch is on libass.9.so and kodi looks for libass.5.so


Additional info:

Kodi 17.1-1 (2017-03-20 19:13 UTC)

libass 0.13.6.1 libass.so=9-32

Steps to reproduce:

-Play video with soft encoded libass subtitles.

Workaround: create symlink from libass.5.so to libass.9.so

That is not a workaround, that's horrible hack that will break things. I don't care if you screw up your system, but don't suggest others do something that dumb.

Nothing in the kodi package is linked to libass at all. What version of ffmpeg are you using?

I didn't say using a symlink was a fix, I don't recommend keeping that as a solution.

libass seems to work fine in other video players which also use ffmpeg.
