Did you restart gnome-shell after updating?

I tried to reproduce your problem. When selecting a location in the weather window, gnome-shell takes a few seconds to crash. After a screen flicker I'm back to gdm. When I login a 2nd time, this time gnome-shell has loaded the updated package libraries, I can't reproduce the crash anymore.

I did restart gnome-shell after updating, a system reboot. I haven't been able to reproduce the issue since though so it would appear it is fixed.
