So is this more than just errors in the log? Cosmetic issue?

It conflicts with other running mDNS daemons making them not function properly. You can see details in the issue thread and commit messages.

The issue and the commit message just complain about the messages, nothing about any functionality problems.

Clients are having severe issues using mDNS, which are being reported by the error messages:
```
avahi-daemon[7343]: *** WARNING: Detected another IPv4 mDNS stack running on this host. This makes mDNS unreliable and is thus not recommended. ***
avahi-daemon[7343]: *** WARNING: Detected another IPv6 mDNS stack running on this host. This makes mDNS unreliable and is thus not recommended. ***
systemd-resolved[2379]: Got mDNS UDP packet on unknown scope. Ignoring.
```

Secondarily logs are getting spammed with messages.

Ok, but what are these "severe issues"?

Intermittent discovery problems.
