Details

When I attempt to run eclipse I get a dialog box with the following error:

A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK)
must be available in order to run Eclipse. No Java virtual machine
was found after searching the following locations:
/opt/eclipse/jre/bin/java

Installing jre fixes the problem.

I had the same problem.

Think the issue is that JRE is not listed as a dependancy of JDK, even though there are symlinks from JDK pointing to files belonging to JRE, For example, /opt/java/jdk/bin/java points to ../jre/bin/java

Adding JRE as a dependancy of JDK should be the solution.

I've contacted Jason, and gotten his blessing to add JRE as dependency of JDK.

I've gone and done that in CVS. This problem should go away with the next release of the jdk package. At that point, we can close the bug.
