Details
linux 4.10.1-1
On linux 4.9.13-1, the sound works normally, but going to linux 4.10.1-1, using the alsa snd_hda_intel driver with an ALC883 codec on an Acer Aspire 3680, there is no sound output. Oddly, things like alsamixer, asound, aplay and pavucontrol are able to interact with the driver, and the sound level display in pavucontrol shows sound from applications. But sound input to the alsa driver is not coming out from the hardware with linux 4.10.1. Other sound hardware seems to be working normally with 4.10. I've only seen the problem on this one machine. For now, linux-lts is needed for working sound. Notice has been sent to the hda_intel.c contacts. |

is this issue still valid?

I cannot speak to the issue with linux 4.10, but in linux
4.13.4-1, the audio works properly. Since 4.10 is not an LTS
series, I suppose that it is no longer important, and we can say
that this problem is fixed.
