I am currently debugging some strange behaviour of the cifs fs-driver in a specific use-case (multiuser, automount, mount with low privilege) and am severely handicapped by the lack of cifs debug-output (activated by setting /proc/fs/cifs/cifsFYI) in the current production kernel (linux). Could you PLEASE activate cifs debugging-output via kernel-configuration item CONFIG_CIFS_DEBUG?

If you need it, build it. Arch makes it very easy to build your own packages.

Thanks, I know - and also know that building a kernel is a fairly time-consuming task on older hardware. Further, I expect that a complex module like CIFS needs debugging every now and then - and then building a custom kernel each time is a bit inconvenient ...
