Description:

today Ihave updated filezilla to 3.24.1 but now I cannot find its icon from the vertical menu and from the search softwares list. I can open it only from console typing "filezilla".
The previous versions was ok

Apparently the problem is a BOM character in the .desktop file, removing it fixes the issue.

This impacts all desktops so should probably have a higher priority. Not many will know how to fix this.

Quick fix for logged in user(s); creating a local temporary version of the desktop file until this is fixed.

tail -c +4 /usr/share/applications/filezilla.desktop > ~/.local/share/applications/filezilla.desktop

Once/Whenever the package is fixed.

rm -f ~/.local/share/applications/filezilla.desktop
