Description:
Chat window without text, blank area. But not for all contacts.
Some styling broken at contacts window.

Steps to reproduce:
I dont know how to debug this, but rebuilding package from ABS fixes issue. Maybe problem with linking to GTK.

I doubt a rebuild will fix your issue. Empathy uses webkit2gtk which has a bug with hidpi displays causing blank window contents.
