Details

It is not possible for me any more to change proxy settings in Firefox preferences since update to 51.0.1-1, i.e. I can't edit the corresponding fields for address/port and if I change from system settings to manual etc. changes will be lost after closing dialogue.
What I tried to solve this issue without any result:
* removing all extensions
* resetting preferences (refresh Firefox...)
* deleting my profile (=everything in ~/.mozilla/firefox)

Works fine here with current version of firefox. Is this still an issue for you?

Yes, I just tested the config again and it still remains unchanged if not modified directly on the about:config page. I am using V53.0-2 rignt now.

vf04, do you still experience this problem in firefox 70.0?
