With pychess 0.12.4-1 a friend of mine with a fresh Arch install (same DE, xfce) gets a crashing game if you click the "start" button. Via command line a lot of "trash" is sent to stdout. I am not sure if a dependency is missing or if it is because of the video driver. I am using intel (kernel driver, no proprietary) and he uses the proprietary nvidia driver.

The (working) output on my system is:
$ pychess
libva info: VA-API version 0.39.4
libva info: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/dri/i965_drv_video.so
libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_0_39
libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0

Hi! This sounds like an upstream problem. Please report the bug to the pychess developers and, if possible, include the terminal output for when it isn't working.
