Hi,
When gdb is not installed, ddd doesn't start (Error. GDB could not be started).
Maybe gdb is a dependency. Or at least there should be a post-install message to warn users to install a debugger (I don't know if another one is enough to make gdb work).
This task depends upon

ddd is a front-end to several debuggers, including gdb. So gdb is not a dependency. I don't think a post-install message is necessary here. The package description and the error message are quite descriptive that a debugger (i.e. gdb) is needed. Any comments?

I don't find the error message very useful: it only talks about GDB and no other debugger. That's why I find a post-install message, which would include other debuggers, is necessary. The idea would be to inform people about other debuggers that ddd can use.

OK, I'll do a .install file as I found out that there are several other debuggers available for Arch.

Ok thanks. Actually the job should have been done by the DDD dev...
