Description:

Midori can be built without the zeitgeist dependency (see packages in https://launchpad.net/~midori/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages where the zeitgeist dependency is optional). I think that midori-gtk2 is rarely used together with Gnome 3 (there is a gtk3 midori package), therefore the zeitgeist support won't be used. On the other hand, Midori is frequently used in lightweight environments where a zeitgeist process using up 10MB of RAM for nothing is not welcome. Not to mention that some people don't want all their activity to be tracked by the zeitgeist daemon.

Thanks for reporting. Will find a way to compile midori-gtk2 without zeitgeist and update the package.
