DetailsDescription:
Version 2.0 of couchdb is not a drop-in replacement for 1.x. First, the API is not 100% compatible (indices are now strings, no temporary views anymore...). This means an application using it will often not work as-is (i.e. without code changes) with 2.0. Second, and at least as important, CouchDB's data (under /var/lib/couchdb) is not compatible. The migration involves running two counchdb instances (one 1.x, one 2.0) and replicating each db from one instance to the other. See e.g. https://blog.couchdb.org/2016/08/17/migrating-to-couchdb-2-0/ for some details. In short: CouchDB 1.6 should have never been replaced with 2.0, as 2.0 is not a replacement. Rather, 2.0 shoudl have been made available as an additional package, either conflicting with 1.x or (preferable) installable along side. This would be the same as with other incompatible packages (such as Python 3.0 vs 2.x etc.) Additional info: * couchdb 2.0.0-4 Steps to reproduce: Update to 2.0. Observe that all your DBs are gone (inaccessible). Also observe that some of your code no longer runs. |

The "couchdb" package is, and should be, the latest version. There could be a couchdb1 package, but if nothing in the repos needs it, the AUR is a perfectly valid place for it.
