DetailsDescription: As of kernel 4.8.x I have been having trouble using any wifi usb dongle dependent on the ath9k_htc driver. (Tested several)
When the crash comes it causes a kernel panic / full system freeze. The only way to access the computer again is to hard shutdown and power it back on again. I was able to get a log this time: Additional info: Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: Hardware name: System Manufacturer System Product Name/KFN4-DRE/RS161-E4, BIOS 1007 01/24/2007 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: Workqueue: events ffffffff814c1500 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: ffffffff00000002 065196bb7cfeb4ea 0000000000000286 0000000000000000 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: ffffc90001dab970 ffffffff8134032f ffffffff81107947 065196bb7cfeb4ea Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: ffffc90001dab9c0 0000000000000000 ffffc90001dab9b0 ffffffff81072687 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: Call Trace: Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffff8134032f>] dump_stack+0x76/0xc7 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffff81107947>] ? print_modules+0x77/0xf0 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffff81072687>] __warn+0xc7/0xf0 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa00b2efb>] ? usb_exit+0x6a9b/0xe730 [usbcore] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa00afe38>] ? usb_exit+0x39d8/0xe730 [usbcore] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffff8107271e>] warn_slowpath_fmt+0x6e/0xb0 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa00afe38>] ? usb_exit+0x39d8/0xe730 [usbcore] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa00b3919>] ? usb_exit+0x74b9/0xe730 [usbcore] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa009711c>] usb_submit_urb+0x1ec/0x530 [usbcore] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a44cc9>] hif_usb_send+0x119/0x530 [ath9k_htc] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a42079>] htc_issue_send.constprop.1+0x69/0x90 [ath9k_htc] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a42568>] htc_send_epid+0x28/0x50 [ath9k_htc] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a45fc4>] ath9k_wmi_cmd+0x134/0x200 [ath9k_htc] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a4c306>] ath9k_regwrite_multi.isra.2+0x66/0xd0 [ath9k_htc] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a4c3f0>] ? ath9k_regwrite_flush+0x80/0x80 [ath9k_htc] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a4c3b8>] ath9k_regwrite_flush+0x48/0x80 [ath9k_htc] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a67850>] ath9k_hw_set_reset+0x260/0x580 [ath9k_hw] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a67e08>] ath9k_hw_set_reset_reg+0x298/0x330 [ath9k_hw] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a6a3d2>] ath9k_hw_init+0x122/0xe10 [ath9k_hw] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a4cdec>] ath9k_htc_probe_device+0x3ac/0xaa0 [ath9k_htc] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a42b93>] ath9k_htc_hw_init+0x33/0x70 [ath9k_htc] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffffa0a44422>] ath9k_hif_usb_firmware_cb+0x92/0x1a0 [ath9k_htc] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffff814c1557>] request_firmware_work_func+0x57/0xb0 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffff81091bc4>] process_one_work+0x184/0x3e0 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffff81091e78>] worker_thread+0x58/0x4d0 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffff81091e20>] ? process_one_work+0x3e0/0x3e0 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffff81098c5a>] kthread+0xea/0x120 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffff816c9a7e>] ret_from_fork+0x1e/0x50 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: [<ffffffff81098b70>] ? kthread_worker_fn+0x1c0/0x1c0 Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: ---[ end trace 231471b300167c94 ]--- Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: ------------[ cut here ]------------ Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 121 at drivers/usb/core/urb.c:449 usb_submit_urb+0x1ec/0x530 [usbcore] Nov 26 18:48:13 mybox kernel: usb 2-2: BOGUS urb xfer, pipe 1 != type 3 |
