Because version 1.5.7 seems to have some issues with IPv6 several modules have blacklisted this version (python2-requests, python2-urllib3 [1]).

In this pull request [1] people say that there are some fixes for IPv6 in master.

I'm not sure what's the best course of action but maybe it's safer for the moment to revert to 1.5.6.

I've also just filled a request for a fixed version at [2].
