DetailsDescription:
On a newly (last week) installed Arch system (via Antergos), couchdb fails to start because of a bad symlink to erlang. Steps to reproduce: * Install erlang (erlang-19.1.6-1, note: not erlang-nox) * Install couchdb (couchdb-2.0.0-1) * sudo systemctl start couchdb * sudo journalctl -r * "/usr/lib/couchdb/bin/couchdb: line 29: /usr/lib/couchdb/bin/../erts-8.1/bin/erlexec: No such file or directory" The problem is couchdb's symlink to erlang is wrong. From /usr/lib/couchdb "ls -la" returns... # ls -la total 292 drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 4096 Sep 26 09:51 . drwxr-xr-x 262 root root 159744 Nov 21 06:56 .. drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 26 09:51 bin lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 24 Sep 26 09:51 erts-8.1 -> /usr/lib/erlang/erts-8.1 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Sep 26 09:51 etc drwxr-xr-x 45 root root 4096 Sep 26 09:51 lib -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 102450 Sep 26 09:51 LICENSE drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Sep 26 09:51 releases drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Sep 26 09:51 share drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Sep 26 09:51 var The correct target location for the symlink is /usr/lib/erlang/erts-8.1.1 Recreating the link "ln -s /usr/lib/erlang/erts-8.1.1 erts-8.1" now allows the service to start. |
