Description:
I took the time to e-mail Jean at HP, and he responded telling me that he no longer maintains this package.

-------------------
In the past, I worked a lot with Guus Sliepen, the Debian maintainer, and
I see that he is still active and has patches that are not in my
version. I would suggest to use the Debian version as the new
upstream.
Regards,
Jean

Additional info:
New upstream is here: http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/w/wireless-tools/

Reason for closing:  Won't implement

Looking at the debian package, they have several patches that are not in the upstream release. Our package is not outdated, we use the same prerelease as Debian does.

The patches that debian has are limited to debian-specific configuration scripts, typo fixes in manpages, multiarch stuff that we don't have, etc. I don't see any "must-have" patches in the debian package at this moment.

Take note that wireless_tools is deprecated in favour of iw.

Definitely sounds like a "Won't Implement" to me, we'll see what the maintainer says.

I agree with Jan. Unless there's a specific patch someone would like to have in our package (then again they're mostly typos and build system improvements), there's nothing to do. Cheers.
